STUDEBAKER LUCAS BUILDING - DUNCAN DEPOT - 106 W. MAIN
Also known as the Studebaker/ Lucas building. While the date on the building says 1901, the building was actually built in 1885 after the International & Great Northern Railroad came to Palestine. A remodel in 1901 added the parapet featuring stylish brickwork, typical of commercial buildings of the period. Sam Lucas operated a general mercantile store and early photographs depict a sign indicating Studebaker Buggy's were sold here as well. A freight elevator, still in use today, was used to move the buggies to the second floor for repairs.
