Hoxie Street is the Site of the railroad Y.M.C.A., which was built 1902-03 to plans by architect John S. Moad. Said to be the largest railroad "Y" in the South, the massive brick structure was built from donations of land and money from the I.& G.N. and from Helen Miller Gould. The building was completely destroyed by fire on August 23, 1955.
